Starting this petition is very important to New Zealand and women especially. Currently, in New Zealand women’s hourly rates are behind mens. Women in New Zealand face this issue as women are doing far more unpaid work than men are. Roughly 63% of women’s work is unpaid whereas 35% of men’s work is unpaid.

Our petition is apart of a high school internal and we must demonstrate a social action in terms of our social issue, which is the pay gap. Gathering signatures will allow our city and country to see the issue and how change is needed to create equality amongst all workers pay, regardless of your gender. We will be showing our petition to our local council and hopefully they are able to make positive changes.
