Hi, my name is Jen and for the past 9 years my wife and I have been petitioning for the right to access fertility treatment via the NHS. Under our local ccg governance we were led to believe that we would be granted access to fertility treatment as, by their own standards, we are classed as medically infertile due to the inability to conceive via intercourse. Unfortunately NHS funded fertility treatment seems to be a postcode lottery and 5 miles in every direction can give you a different outcome. In Morecambe and surrounding areas same sex couples are not entitled to access fertility treatment simply because we are a same sex couples, yet Manchester ccg does not exclude same sex couples, an hour down the road!! As it stands we have been deemed by authorities to be outstanding parents to a non biological child (albeit our child no matter what) yet we are not able to experience parenthood from conception. I plead with you to help us make the difference by creating equality in services we have both served for and paid into!
