Let EA students dye their hair

Let EA students dye their hair
Unlike its surrounding public schools and other Inter-AC schools, EA does not allow students to dye their hair any “unnatural colors.” Additionally, they restrict the ability to pierce ears by gender, not allowing male students to wear earrings. These rules are not only dated but also restrict students’ freedom of expression during their teenage years, when we are expected to figure out who we are. It is natural and fun for students to express themselves creatively via their appearance. Students already wear the required uniform every day, the school should not also have autonomy over how each student decides to wear their hair. Additionally, some teachers over the years have worn colorful and “unnatural” hairstyles, though these same freedoms have not been extended to students. Though EA provides wonderful academic opportunities, many students, especially those involved in the arts, feel that they are not allowed to express themselves at school.
