It is 2019 and in the last decade, communities all over the globe have already seen the negative consequences of reckless waste created by single-use plastic. 

Consumers are responsible for the choices they make daily, but this is influenced by options, or lack there of, offered or encouraged by retailers. 

ShopRite is an influential retailer and institution as one of the most frequented major grocery stores in our local community. The new, highly anticipated ShopRite of Stroudsburg is in a unique position to be a leader in our community by taking accountability and initiative for their responsibility toward environmental sustainability practices that have local and regional impacts. 

By signing this petition, I support the new ShopRite of Stroudsburg in banning single-use plastic bags, plastic to-go containers, plastic utensils, etc. and offering consumers sustainable, biodegradable options. In addition, ShopRite of Stroudsburg should incentivize consumers’ decisions to use reusable or biodegradable shopping bags.
