HELP STOP THE SPREAD OF AIRBORNE DISEASE FROM POULTRY FARMING, TRANSPORT & PRODUCTION!

I feel this needs to be addressed to stop the spread of disease around poultry farming and production. Everyday hundreds of poultry trucks transport thousands of chickens a day via caged trucks to numerous poultry facilities. I feel the transport trucks are a hazard to human health and well being. If you happen to be the lucky one to travel behind a poultry transport truck which can carry harmful bacteria, fungus and environmental dust for up to 17 miles. Leaving the bacteria/fungus/dust covering your vehicle. You are exposed! These bacteria's and fungus are harmful to your health especially if you have a compromised immune system.

We have lived beside a poultry processing plant as well as several poultry farms my whole life. Last year my 11 year old daughter contracted Histoplasm Capsulatum      ( Histoplasmosis is an infection caused by a fungus called Histoplasma. The fungus lives in the environment, particularly in soil that contains large amounts of bird or bat droppings- Center of Disease Control) which has took an awful toll on her body. This disease is not well researched but it should be! Anyone in or around poultry farming and processing is exposed to this deadly fungus but those of compromised immune systems seem to get the worst end of the stick. She has been sick for over a year. She has been put through the ringer with medical testing and still is being treated to this day. If the fungus isn't properly treated it could be deadly. Unfortunately there is no cure for the fungus. My goal is to raise awareness so no other parent or child should have to go through this! Most people who contract this fungus are perfectly fine and their bodies weed out the fungus. BUT What about others who don't have the immune system to fight off the disease? Babies, elderly, people with autoimmune disorders can contract this easly! What about these people?!?! How come there is not a warning label posted outside poultry facilities for neighbors of the plants or farms? How come residents or workers are not aware of the contamination?

Exposures to agricultural dust, both inorganic and organic. Infections and resultant health effects may occur due to exposures to biological agents including viruses (e.g., avian influenza virus and West Nile virus), bacteria (e.g., Campylobacter jejuni, E. coli, Salmonella), and fungi (e.g., Histoplasma capsulatum).https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/topics/poultry/breed.html

Johns Hopkins researchers took air and surface samples from cars driving behind poultry trucks for 17 miles. The cars’ air-conditioners and fans were turned off, but the windows were fully open during the ride. Bacteria that don’t respond to antibiotics were found on and in the cars, but were absent from cars not driven behind the chicken trucks. The authors note a probable link between the antibiotic-resistant bacteria and concentrated animal-feeding operations (CAFOs), where as many as 2 million birds are raised in confinement and routinely fed antibiotics to survive in such close proximity.
And it’s not just chicken-truck tailgaters taking in a whiff of unhealthy air. An Environmental Integrity Project analysis of recent studies found that the 10 largest chicken- and egg-producing U.S. states release more than 700 million pounds of ammonia a year—that’s more than all nonagricultural industries combined. The irritating substance can cause burns and eye, skin, throat, and lung irritation. https://www.rodalewellness.com/living-well/chicken-and-factory-farms

These need to be addressed:

* TRANSPORT TRUCK CLEANING AND DISINFECTION

* POULTRY COMPANIES NEED TO WARN NEIGHBORS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO THE BACTERIA AND FUNGUS

* POULTRY FARMS, TRANSPORT AND PRODUCTION FACILITIES NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR HEALTH RISK ASSOCIATED WITH THEIR FACILITY

* TRANSPORT TRUCKS NEED COVERING OVER THEIR CAGES TO STOP THE SPREAD OF DISEASE

*POULTRY FARMS NEED TO BE MORE CAUTIOUS ON HOW TO PREVENT THESE SPREAD OF DISEASE

* THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE LAWS TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE FROM AIRBORNE BACTERIA AND FUNGUS

* POULTRY PRODUCTION COMPANIES NEED TO BE AWARE OF THEIR WATER RUN OFF IN TO NEIGHBORHOOD YARDS OR LAND

* POULTRY FARMS AND PRODUCTS SHOULD BE OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS TO LIMIT EXPOSURE TO THE PUBLIC

PLEASE I BEG YOU FOR A CHANGE. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP. NO OTHER FAMILY SHOULD HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS! STOP THE SPREAD OF DISEASE!
