EPA – Install an Independent Emissions Monitoring Station at Poolbeg Incinerator Site

With only months to go before the incinerator starts operation and begins emitting emissions into the environment of the UNESCO biosphere of Dublin Bay, there is still time to install a monitoring station in Poolbeg [1].

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), need to step up. Following pressure from our recent campaign, the EPA is currently reviewing the possibility of establishing an air quality monitoring station in the Poolbeg area. WE NEED TO KEEP THE PRESSURE UP.

They have the power to make sure that the emissions are monitored and ensure the Incinerator meets acceptable standards. We need transparency around crucial areas to hold the operator, Covanta, to account.

If enough of us sign this, we can deliver a huge petition to the EPA and shine a light in this crucial area. Sign below and add your voice to call on the EPA to install a monitoring station in Poolbeg.

We’re calling on the EPA to install a monitoring station to monitor not just CO2 but other potentially dangerous emissions such as Dioxins and Furans.

Dublin Bay is a designated UNESCO biosphere site important for its natural beauty [2]. It draws thousands of visitors each year and is home to thousands of people who live and work by the bay. Many of us take part in activities on the bay or beside it. We deserve to know what our air quality is.

Let’s make sure the EPA know we are not going away. Call for a monitoring station now.

We’re stronger together and together we’ll make the change.
