Clare Brett started this petition to Environmental Protection Agency and

16 beautiful black poplars are to be cut down to make way for non native sweetgum trees. The black poplars were cut back 10 years ago due to branches falling. Now Sandwell council have said they are a health and safety issue, but if they were to be cut back again there would be no issue. The forestry inspectors state the trees are weak and is the cause of the hanging branches. These trees are a massive asset stopping air and noise pollution, from the main road adjacent to residential flats, so a place where birds and wildlife go, there is sightings of birds also starting to nest, and the trees are to be cut down 30th March. Please sign to save them.
There are to many trees being chopped down, the local councils state that the air is important and want to replace majestic old native trees for smaller insufficient trees. People were devastated about the fires in Australia, yet the other side of the world in this country are willingly killing all our trees on a daily basis. It’s time to stop, and start saying no.
