CM is an amazing school, but the books we read in Freshman English class aren't acceptable. We need better, more engaging, more in-depth books than titles like Goodbye Days. On the CM website it says: "A deep awareness into how young men learn points to the fact that students want to experience subject matter through active engagement, hands-on opportunities, constructivist learning, and dynamic interactions." Goodbye Days fails to reach that bar, it is a poorly written book with a silly plot. Its overuse of explicitly sexual jokes make this book unreadable and should be taken out of CM curricular. It needs to be replaced with real literature, like The Robe by Lloyd C. Douglas or Out of the Silent Planet by C. S. Lewis. Goodbye Days is a stain on CM's academics.
