The fuel attendants in different fuel stations are without a doubt one of the lowest paid employees in South Africa and with minimal or no bonuses at all and with rising cost of inflation and forever increasing price of food and other services making it more difficult for this employees to survive. 

Almost all South African consumers have moved from carrying hard cash to carrying only cards and using other mobile payment methods such as scan to pay via cellphone and this has made it increasingly impossible for consumers to offer tips to petrol attendants, who from time to time, help with refuelling, washing of windscreens, checking oil and water levels, tyre pressure and sometimes assist customers with flat tyres. 

This petition is directed to fuel retailers, card machines providers and other role players to include a “tip function” on the card payment machines across filling stations in the country to allow consumers to tip petrol attendants using our bank cards.

This will help show our appreciation to the petrol attendants for a wonderful service they each provide to us everyday without fail and the tips will assist the employees during this tough economic times.
