Assyrians in Iraq and Northern Iraq (known as the Kurdish Region), continue to be treated unjustly, discriminated against and are deprived of their basic human rights, especially within the legal and justice systems.

Recent events in the northern regions of Iraq, have proven to be life-threatening to the Assyrians. Attacks, breach of human rights violations, illegal land grabbing and physical abuse of land owners repeatedly occurs and there is no protection or support for these rightful land owners.
Two advocates and owners of land were arrested on the 10 May for standing up for their rights and protecting their lands. They were unethically, unjustly and forcefully arrested. The families that protested against this brutality and deprivation rights were also abused by the authorities and consequently removed from the protest.
It is important that these issues are addressed immediately, protection is owed to the rightful owners, the indigenous people of the lands in Iraq, the Assyrians.

We must stand united, support the Assyrians in Iraq and take action.

We have written to the Department of Foreign Affairs and also several Australian federal ministries, raising awareness and bringing this issue to their attention.

If you would like to endorse this initiative, please sign and show your support and take action to help the Assyrians.

Awareness must be raised at an international level and action must be taken to bring equitable and immediate justice for the Assyrians.
