This is stupid. Those of us who may need blood transfusions don’t care who the blood products have come from since straight people can have hiv and aids too. Stop the ban on gay blood donors,

This rule is archaic. It was created out of fear a health - HIV/AIDS - crisis, and scapegoated minorities. We understand HIV/AIDS better now, and we have no excuse to keep this rule, which only spreads more fear and hate while costing lives.

While AIDS and HIV are higher amongst gay men, the numbers have dropped through the years. Testing is also faster and more efficient as well as treatment. It's also unfair to assume that all gay individuals participate in unsafe sexual practices. Unfortunately, heterosexual individuals are as, if not more, sexually active with the advent of cellular phones and websites/apps making anonymous hookups and pay-to-play that much more available. It's important to screen all donors, but it's absurd, particularly with all the blood shortages, to deny donations from individuals attempting to contribute to their society. A blanket ban is simply too much. Screen by the individual and not their sexual identity.

This is a ridiculous, outdated law.
