End the oil industry's monopoly
Every time you go to the gas pump you feel it.
Your wallet is a bit lighter, and the oil companies are a little richer. And that feeling keeps getting worse and worse.
Oil is ruining our economy, our environment, our health, and our national security. But what choice do we have? What we need is more options at the pump, and that’s exactly what renewable fuel provides.
As long as oil remains the primary way we fuel our cars and trucks, we’ll be stuck paying high prices set by an increasing volatile global market. It’s time to break oil’s monopoly and rally together to create a movement against the oil industry. Get the facts, join the fight, and sign up now to support renewable fuel.
I pledge to support renewable fuel and the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) against oil industry attacks.
The oil industry stifles consumer choice and jeopardizes our national security, blocking cheaper options like renewable fuel. And they make more profits than any other industry in history. In 2012, profits for the top five oil companies totaled $118 billion.
Rather than using that money to create jobs or help the communities that support these companies, the oil industry spends a significant portion of these profits on lobbying to block cleaner sources of energy -- $49.6 million in 2012 alone. Right now the oil industry is fighting against policies that promote renewable fuel -- policies that have been proven to work in breaking our addiction to oil and saving Americans money at the pump.
The Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) lowers the price of gasoline, increases consumer choice, supports fuel diversity, reduces the environmental impact of transportation fuel, and increases national security. That’s why Fuels America is working tirelessly to protect the RFS and promote the benefits of all types of renewable fuel.
I stand with Fuels America and thousands of Americans calling for an end to the oil industry’s monopoly and for the advancement of renewable fuel.
Fuels America started this pledge with a single signature, and now has 33,810 supporters. Start a petition today to change something you care about.
