Support the proposal from the European Parliament to end roaming by December 2015

It is time to gather our voices to support the European Parliament’s position representing EU citizens: “let’s remove roaming tariffs from December 2015!"
Everyone has suffered at some time or another the unjustified extra cost of using their mobile phone abroad.
‘Roaming’ is the service of using your mobile phone abroad while paying a higher price than the national rate.
Such extra charges contradict European internal market principles and act as barriers to European citizens’ right to free movement in Europe. Roaming is often called “the last borders in Europe”.
This is not only a problem for tourists, but also for students abroad, employers, expatriated staff and people living near the European Union’s internal political boundaries.
In April 2014, the European Parliament, wherein all European citizens are represented, approved a European Commission proposal to remove roaming within the EU by December 2015.
However, this proposal has been blocked by Member States seeking to postpone the debate until 2018. This is putting the interests of telecoms operators before those of citizens.
Negotiations are underway between the Parliament and Council (which represents all Member States and is obliged to look after its citizens’ interests). A decision is expected in the coming months. Your support of this initiative will be crucial.
If each of us signs this petition, the echo will resound strongly among the European institutions and we will help knock down “the last borders in Europe”.
