End Homeless Discrimination in Los Angeles by Repealing Ban on Car Camping

0 have signed. Let’s get to 200!

This is a petition to insure the Los Angeles Municipal Code (LAMC) 85.02 is repealed when it comes back to court. The law has made it illegal for people living in cars, vans, or RVs to park on nearly 90% of the streets. It criminalizes homelessness, while not giving adequate space for the amount of homeless and travelers taking up space in the city. It takes away the legal right for a person to choose to live in a car instead of a house and makes the lives of the homeless (not living in a car by choice) harder than before. The law in itself is ridiculous because under other laws of the city, a person can simply sleep on the sidewalk next to their car, and it would be perfectly legal. Does this sound like a law made for the good of all in LA?

Tell Los Angeles lawmakers to increase the amount of parking space allowed for the the homeless and vehicle dwellers, because in its current enforcement it is inhumane, discriminating, and completely unamerican to remove such freedoms from its citizens. I believe it is important to take a stand against this. It's even more important to stop such sneaky laws that discriminate based on wealth from passing.
