Once every nine weeks, we are forced to take a standardized test on GCA Connect. These tests are extremely unfair for many reasons. They are not tailored to the classroom. I have a friend whose entire class failed the science GCA test because their teacher had not taught everything in the test and had to teach 2 units in a 50 minute period the day before. It is also unfair in English. Half of my class got a 75 on the assignment even though their responses were "You wrote a complete narrative. It would be even better if you more fully developed your response." That assignment was worth a lot of our grades, and I might have an A in that class if it weren't for that assignment. The final reason why these tests are bad is that they cause intense stress. It is very stressful to find out that you have a heavily weighted timed assignment in a week that is graded by complete strangers. In conclusion, we should not have to take GCA Connect standardized tests. If we get enough signers, the state may ban GCA standardized tests.
