End Ban on Cell Phones at Gar-Field Senior High School

Gar-Field Senior High School has previously allowed cell phone usage in the hallways in between classes which allowed students to take a well needed break from instruction and communicate with others. However after the students came back from summer vacation, they were surprised to hear about the implementation of a new cell phone policy that bans the use of cell phones before and after class in the hallways. It is unclear as to why this new policy started since students have received different explanations from many different teachers. One reason may be because teachers and administrators were tired of students bumping into them after they were not looking out in front of them in the hallways. This is an extremely minor problem and does not warrant a new cell phone policy. Another reason may be because school officials thought it would improve test scores and grades which would result in increased funding. This reason is too drastic of a solution and is not worth implementing this new phone policy. It is also very unrealistic to expect students as well as teachers to strictly follow the new rule since there isn't a good reason for it. It is a hassle for teachers that have to discipline more students in the hallway for doing something so small. We ask the Gar-Field Administration to reconsider their new policy.
