Encourage Super 1 to offer better incentives for long term employees

Bonnie is a 73 year old Super 1 employee who is fighting her second battle with cancer. She is the cashier at register nine at Super One in Opelousas, LA. She has been a Super 1 employee for 8 years now. Bonnie just found out that she will only receive 8 weeks of short term disability benefits. Her chemo treatment will last 18 weeks. Additionally, she will have to undergo surgery which will require another 6-8 weeks for recovery. The debt she will incur from medical bills will be staggering, not to mention her need for basic living essentials. Super 1 is offering Bonnie no time to recover from her illness. She is currently on medical leave and if she remains out for 6 months they will lay her off and "allow" her to reapply for a job when she is healthy enough. If rehired, she will have to start at the bottom again with a pay cut. At 73, getting employed will be difficult, if not impossible. I encourage you to sign this petition to help bring awareness to this unfortunate situation. There is power in numbers and a simple policy change handed down from the benefits department in the corporate office would remedy this problem.
Bonnie has touched many lives and is an extraordinary woman! To be 73 years old and still want to work for a living is truly inspiring. I believe Super 1 can do better. So here's a chance to help Bonnie and all other future employees who may have to go through this thing called life...
Thank you for your support and God Bless!
