Call & Encourage Senators to Continue Opposition to Unreasonable Health Care Bill

LMM is pleased to see that Senators Sherrod Brown and Rob Portman have both opposed the recent Senate health care bill. As an advocacy and social services-focused agency, LMM is grateful for the diligence the state leaders have shown in opposing the health care bill as written, and they should be commended.

Opposition to the bill is crucial to the people of Ohio. The bill would result in millions of people losing health care coverage. It would also cut federal funding for expanded Medicaid, impacting all who depend on Medicaid including low-income children, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. People with pre-existing conditions would be forced to choose plans that are too expensive for many to afford, and premiums would increase, among other problematic coverage issues.

We ask that you join LMM in thanking Senator Portman and Senator Brown by calling both their local and Washington, D.C. offices to express your appreciation and encouragement to continue to stand for Ohioans.

While this success is to be celebrated, there are challenges still ahead of us when it comes to affordable health coverage. We encourage Senators Brown and Portman to stay the course and work together to enhance the Affordable Care Act to ensure that the most vulnerable in our nation have access to quality and affordable health coverage.
