Countless stories nationwide tell of the powerful therapeutic and life saving benefits to wounded veterans who have trained or owned a service dog, and commonly experience improved emotional regulation, sleep patterns, sense of personal safety, reduced anxiety and social interaction. Though there is strong anecdotal evidence of mental health and PTSD improvement- the empirical evidence to back it up is lacking (H.R.2074, 2011, Section 6). It is time to enact the Veterans Dog Training Therapy Act.
