I am petitioning that we require congress to enact an age cap for all congressional seats (senate, house, governors). I believe 75 years of age would serve as an appropriate limit. Seeing as our federal government already agrees that an appropriate age to retire is in our late 60s, 75 appears to be reasonable and supported by science. 

As we age into our 80s and 90s, certain parts of our brain shrink, blood flow slows down and communication between neurons start to be less effective. To sum up the science, as we age into the later years of our life, we begin to struggle with learning, processing information and speaking properly. 

To provide purpose to this petition, it is extremely important that we have wise individuals who are more than capable of keeping the cogs of our government moving efficiently and effectively. This congressional age cap will help ensure that.

To those who are currently in congress over the age of 75, please allow the next generation of leaders their opportunity after your current term and enjoy the retirement you have earned and deserve. Thank you for your service!
