Empowering Smallholder Farmers in Economic Endeavours

"Filipino farmers experience “discrimination,” being “neglected, abandoned and forgotten” and risks, such as climate change, to feed the very people who ignore them." There are so many challenges, especially nowadays. Including flooding and landslide, and this is too hard for planters to start with, after the failure. 

The local farmers are losing out on cheap imported rice and traders buy products/ ingredients at prices lower than their production cost. Generally, most of people are descriminating farmers when the fact that we need them, not just us but also farmers need us, to support them. This means that we should implement the good judgement and help them to empower their rights and sustain them individually. This will also encourage in the next generation local farmers to benefit with and continue to plant with our support. Moreover, we need farmers not only every day but also need them three times a day.

New farm rules must be drafted to enable farmers to increase their yields and raise their incomes while preserving their land's natural habitat. Their partner stakeholder, the agrochemicals and seed industry, needs to be motivated to provide world-class products. One of the solutions that are needed to comply is to help foster food security in the country is to empower local farmers to live self-sufficient and good quality lives, as well as to encourage the youth to pursue careers in agriculture so that, in the future, more people will realize that agriculture is an industry that has sustained us. 

Empowering the Smallholder Farmers can motivate them to keep planting and keep moving for us to feed.
