Empower Parents To Help Their Children In Buncombe County Schools

I am concerned about the neglect/abuse and the leadership our children and parents sometimes experience in the Buncombe County, North Carolina school district. It's important that our children are safe and our leaders have their best interest in mind when these issues occur.

Issues of abuse, bullying, neglect should not be tolerated and leaders that minimize this abuse, file an inaccurate or understated report, impair transfer to a safer school, offer false or inaccurate testimony to protect another Buncombe County School Leader, or aid in downgrading the severity of these issues should be reprimanded or removed from their position.

It's time to restructure our system to protect our children and empower parents to have a voice when injustice occurs and give parents the tools they need to remove their children from harm's way.

The school district borders should be removed in cases where documented physical, emotional or sexual abuse is noted by the parents or qualified physicians. This will effect the system in two ways: Force the system to make adjustments to repeat offender schools and free parents to transfer children easily when their children are in harm's way.

All incident reports must be created by the teacher and agreed upon by the parent or guardian in writing along with the principal before its submitted. In cases where the parent/student versions conflict with that of school leadership, the parent has the right to schedule an emergency review within 30 days by the school board with an appeal process. Siblings will be transferred as well when applicable.

All issues brought before the school board should be made public and published on the http://www.buncombe.k12.nc.us website, protecting the child's identity when applicable.

Our children should not have to suffer or be exposed to poor leadership because of their physical location, agendas that protect residual offender youth, or cases in the Buncombe County School System where Buncombe County employees are unwilling to help.
