Empower Dalit/Adivasi: Appoint Chiefs in National Commission for Scheduled Castes & Tribes

0 have signed. Let’s get to 7,500!

The Hathras case reminded me of what Babasaheb had said, “Law and order are the medicine of the body politic and when the body politic gets sick, medicine must be administered.”

The sad thing is that even today, Dalits and tribal communities have little support of law or judicial systems. Irrespective of which government is in power, there are always reports of atrocities on Dalits and Adivasis.

Reports are easily forgotten. If we really want change, better laws and order, we have to raise our voice now. Sign and share my petition so that Dalits and Adivasis in India get justice.

I would not have started this petition had our governments and leaders really shown concern about Dalits and Adivasis. They do not care, that is why the institutions created for the benefit of Dalits and Adivasis are left unclaimed. Leadership positions lay vacant!

Let me bring to your notice that two main institutions created to protect the rights of Adivasis and Dalits, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) and National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) , do not have a head for more than several months!

NCST and NCSC are both constitutional bodies. There work is not just to speak for Dalits and Adivasis but also act as a shield for them.

In cases of atrocities on Dalits and Adivasis, these institutions ensure that the case is investigated properly. If their complaint is not being heard, then due to the pressure of these institutions, the officers have to listen to the Dalits and Adivasis. Both these institutions also ensure that the victims get fair compensation.

It is heartbreaking to see that on one hand the government is talking about representing Dalits and Adivasis, while on the other hand, the institutions formed for their rights are without heads and leaders. Sign and share my petition so that the government appoints the chief in (NCSC) and (NCST) without any delay.

I ask you- Can a country run properly without a Prime Minister? Can a state run properly without a Chief Minister? Then how can these constitutional bodies function properly and efficiently without a chief?

According to the latest report of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), in the year 2019, 45,935 crime incidents took place against the Dalits in the country!

If the government appoints the chiefs in (NCSC) and (NCST), then the probability of justice in these criminal cases will increase and perhaps there will also be reduction in such atrocities.

Please sign and share my petition so that the voices of Dalits and Adivasis reaches every corner of the country.
