Petitioning Employers to Stop Spying on Employees

If you use your mobile device for work, chances are that you are being eavesdropped on by your employer. In order to do this, employers require employees to install an application onto their device (eg. Airwatch, Mobile Iron, Meraki, etc - full list below) so that employees can “easily and securely access email and other work resources”.
That’s not all what these applications do.
When hired, employees are unsuspectingly presented consent forms that grant these applications and their employers the permission to:
- Monitor GPS and location information
- Wipe personal data
- Control network access
- Lock/disable the device
- Force all traffic through a VPN or proxy for further security inspection
- View application inventory and controlled what the employee may install
- Limit the use of cloud services applications
It is not fair for employers to require employees to use their own personal device for work and then violate their right to privacy by having hidden control of everything (personal and work related) on the device.
We demand that employers abandon using these Big Brother applications and adopt solutions that industry leaders recommend satisfy the requirements of employers (security) while respecting the desires of employees (privacy).
Full List of Big Brother Applications:
- Mobile Iron
- Cisco Meraki
- IBM MaaS360
- Good Technology
- CA Technologies
- Citrix XenMobile
- Dell EMM
- SOTI MobiControl
- SAP Afaria
