Tish & Snooky's NYC MANIC PANIC, has been a family-owned, women-owned, minority-owned, NYC small business/institution since 1977. Founded by sisters Tish & Snooky, it has grown from a small "mom & mom" operation in The Village, to a global corporation known world-wide for its vibrant hair colors. 7/7/17 will be the "Manniversary" of its 40 years in business. In celebration, the company that put crazy hair color on the map, is asking that you please sign in support to ask the Empire State Building to reverse its rejection of our request to light the building in a rainbow of multi-colors, synonymous with Manic Panic, on this momentous day.
Celebrated by Mayor Bloomberg on their 30th anniversary for their contribution to New York City's economy, Manic Panic is a true staple in NYC history. Starting the first punk rock boutique in America and overcoming many prejudices and obstacles as independent business women, Tish and Snooky have employed many people over the course of 40 years. They contribute to countless charities and their product empowers people from all walks of life to be free to express themselves through color.
All we want is a little light, ok a lot of light, in our colors to commemorate this milestone. Will you please help us convince the powers that be behind the "magic curtain" that Manic Panic colors, shining bright from atop the Empire State Building, on its 40th anniversary, is a tribute not only to Manic Panic but to the American dream and to the individualists who rock the color? We thank you, and all the colorful spirits around the world who believe that there is power in numbers-and color.
