Emory and Henry Cheer & Dance Teams started this petition to Emory and Henry College

The Cheer and Dance teams at Emory and Henry College were told less than 2 weeks before the day they were supposed to move on campus with ALL other sports teams that they will not be allowed back on campus. Allowing our team to be back on campus with other teams would require moving in less than 10 people due to the fact such a big part of our team is a freshman who has already been approved to be on campus.

The reasoning behind this decision was simply because we are not a NCAA team but instead an affinity team. Although this is the case we feel as if we are not being treated fairly and the number of double standards is unreal in this current situation.

We have lost out on 3 months of full team practice time and now with the decision made we will not be together until at least January. We will be cheering for 3 sports this year; volleyball, basketball, and football. Our prep time for these seasons will be from January until March now that we are not allowed back. Not only is this a very busy schedule but in the terms of stunting, it is unsafe.

Due to COVID 19 taking so many things away from the athletes of E&H, we feel as if us being back on campus cheering on our beloved wasps would only boost the spirits which are definitely needed during this time. This decision has hindered us from doing our job and more importantly what we love and giving the students the best wasp nation experience.

With the number of cheer and dance members that would need to be moved back on campus being so low, we cannot see the reason why we are not allowed back with every other much larger sports team.
