Recently the video streaming platform Twitch has removed the term "Blind Playthrough" from the platform in belief that it is offensive to the blind/VI (Visually Impaired) community.

I myself am visually impaired while my glasses help with my vision, they don't fully correct my vision and I may never have perfect 20/20 vision. I count myself lucky for what vision I have and I know there are others like me and others who are sadly worse off than me.

But this is not about me or any one individual, this is about a community that feels misrepresented and villainised by the recent changes, many blind/VI streamers were never asked about how they felt about the term and it was removed without consulting the people whom it is supposed to be offensive to.

Over the course of the weekend of the 5th and 6th of December 2020. I have read the outcry of the blind/Visually Impaired community that they feel misrepresented as people are speaking for them. Many of the community including myself do not feel offended by the term "blind playthrough." as it is not using the word blind in the context of eyesight. it is used to describe being blind to what will happen next often used on first time playthroughs of video games

The goal of this petition is to reinstate the term "Blind Playthrough" and also to make the platform more inclusive to the people of the Blind/VI community and to make our voices heard instead of others deciding what we should be offended by.

We never asked for the term to be removed nor were we asked if we wanted it removed. Now we are asking to put it back.
