Quidditch is a fun game, created originally by J.K. Rowling in Harry Potter. Even if you aren’t a wizard or a witch, you can still play this sport. In an actual game, there are two teams. Each team has seven players: three chasers, who score goals; two beaters, who prevent bludgers from hitting their team; one keeper, who protects the goals; and one seeker, who catches the snitch and wins 150 points for his or her team, most likely winning. In wizard quidditch, there are four balls: the quaffle, a leather ball that is thrown through the goal hoops; two bludgers, small balls that try to knock you off you broom; and the golden snitch, a ball substitute for the rare snidget bird, which the seeker has to catch. In muggle quidditch, a volleyball is used as the quaffle; two dodge balls are used as bludgers, and the snitch is basically a person. While muggles can’t actually fly on brooms, they can play tag, dodgeball, and basketball. If they can’t keep the broom between their legs as they run, the other team is awarded a penalty. Quidditch would be a great game to introduce into schools, even without the brooms. Please sign this petition to help bring quidditch into schools!
