PROTECT PENSACOLA BEACH SWIMMERS - STOP DUMPING SEWAGE EFFLUENT NEAR QUIETWATER BEACH!

When we swim where sewage effluent is being discharged, we increase our exposure to antibiotic-resistant bacteria, viruses and other microbes that can and do make us ill. The antiquated sewage plant at Pensacola Beach discharges right next to the most popular swimming area for families at Pensacola Beach.
There is a large dead-zone around the discharge pipe where marine life and grassbeds cannot thrive. Good water quality in Santa Rosa Sound is vital to our economy and our health.
The sewage plant is vulnerable to hurricanes and has outlived its expected usage (over 50 years). A new system/plan is needed now as Pensacola Beach is growing and the plant is at capacity and beyond, during busy times of the year.
ECUA must move the plant and its discharge to a safe and economically feasible location off the island NOW not five or 10-years from now when it will be too late for the thousands of children and adults who unknowingly swim in sewage effluent. Our health, environment, and economy depend on it.
