There is no doubt, everyone lucky enough to call Emerald Beach “home” feels incredibly privileged and blessed to be here. The very fabric of our community is built around a deep appreciation and respect for the natural environment and the physical and mental health aspects it provides on a daily basis.

Another part of daily life that is incredibly valuable to many of our residents is our relationship with ‘man’s best friend’ - our dogs. Dog ownership (and pet ownership as a whole) demands the highest level of commitment, dedication and responsibility to ensure an optimal experience is had by both our pets and the humans they coexist with. Accessing our beautiful dog beach is a top priority and great joy for many of us, and at the current point in time we are forced to utilise a pathway that is quite unsafe and certainly not passable for many residents who struggle with their health and mobility. 

This petition aims to gather support to officially amend the flat, safe and all season access track from the park to an on-leash zone. 

1. This is a solution that will maintain safety for any residents with anxiety or concerns about dogs south of the creek. 

2. This is a solution the can rapidly mitigate any future injuries from occurring via the current mandated access. 

3. This is a solution that comes and zero cost to the council with no need to the provision of additional infrastructure.
