Make Bus Pick Up At Individual Subdivisions in Nixa Missouri for Children's Safety

Children who attend Summit Intermediate, Century Elementary, and Nixa Junior high and also live in The Columns subdivision and adjoining subdivisions are forced to walk to Century Elementary each morning to be bussed to school. Bus drop off time is 655am for Summit. This means that our children, many of which are ages 5-13 are required to walk across North street. At times in the year they will be walking in the dark. This street is very busy. There is no safe passage. There are no sidewalks to make it safe the entire walk and the children have to walk on the road or along side of the busy road. When you come out of some of the subdivisions, including The Columns, there is a hill on each side of the entrance. This makes it literally impossible for the children to see an oncoming vehicle or for a vehicle to see them. This is not to mention the children who have to walk alone because a parent works outside the home. According to statistics in 2017 alone there have been 24 abductions just in the Springfield area. We as parents only want our children safe. Our tax dollars should allot for the bus route to include every subdivision which has a child that attends school so they do not have to cross congested, busy, and dangerous roads. A bus driver getting out 30 or 45 minutes earlier to get our kids to school safe is much better than one of us parents praying our child is found safe after an abduction, praying they make it out alive after they are run over trying to cross the road, or heaven forbid one of us ever having to bury our precious babies. Please sign this petition to change the bus route to include all subdivisions in the bus route and keep our kids safe.
