Divestment is selling off and restricting future investment in a specific interest. In our case the interest is fossil fuel companies. We are calling Elmhurst University to DIVEST from FOSSIL FUELS. Essentially, endowments made to the college are put into stocks which often support fossil fuel companies. If we are serious about sustainability on campus and want to make a difference in the global fight against climate change, then divestment is the way to go. 

There is an economic, ecological, and moral imperative here. Financially, renewable energy is a growing market. Ecologically, fossil fuels are expelling dangerous levels of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. Morally, higher burdens are placed on low-income communities as climate change exacerbates previously establish social, economic, and public health inequalities.  

But fear not! We can make change!!!

By signing this petition, you agree that

1. The Board of Trustees should being a transparent, transition to divest their resources away from fossil fuels and INVEST towards renewables. 
2. You are an Elmhurst Univeristy student, staff, faculty, or a local member of the Elmhurst community that is invested in the developments of this divestment campaign.
