I am making this petition to request officers in the lawerence and beaver county area to get body cams. If ellwood can afford k9 units, theres no reason they cannot fund bodycams. Some of the main reasons for this are improving officer safety, increasing evidence quality, reducing civilian complaints  , and reducing agency liabilty. 

While many officers around the united states have been provided body cams, not many can afford or provide this type of equipment and training. With that being said, we can fund body cams. This isnt the Wild West officers need to be held accountable. Lawerence and beaver county which fall under ellwood jurisdiction specifically are the proposed stations that should be required to wear body cams at all times. A typical K9 unit costs 8,000$ + including officer training. A body worn camera costs 189$, coming to around 739$ for included video storage. As legally required by state and federal laws, these body cam footages will be made available to the public.
