Elko High School Dress Code

Elko High School Dress Code
Why this petition matters
Our school has changed a lot since a certain vice principal came to our school including our dress code. Since the first day of school people have been getting dressed coded left and right, not even warned about the new rules about "appropriate dress" at school. The new teacher argues that "You should know this by now" and "I shouldn't have to remind you" even though in past years the school had not enforced these rules and many didn't even know these rules existed.
And while the dress code in supposedly enforced on everyone it is no secret that the majority of us getting dress coded are the women of this school. Just because women's bodies look different from men doesn't mean you get to treat it any differently from a man's. In the two weeks I've been in school I've seen the men of this school wear the same or less clothing that you say are forbidden in your school, this is unfair and you know it.
I remember a student telling me that she had to cover up because she was "distracting his boys". I also know a woman who was wearing exactly the recommended amount of cloths you said was alright but she was still being sexualized and dress coded not because of her cloths but because of her body and how it looked. You should not sexualize people for their cloths, body, or at all. Especially because we are children and the amount of suggestive comments that i hear male teachers give to their students is sickening. One teacher got safe voiced for it last year and guess what happened...he still works here at our school.
Now let's talk about sports or better yet let's talk about their uniforms. They violate the dress code. For example cheer leading sure they have the shorts and whatnot but if another person came to school wearing shorts and the hight equivalent of those uniforms they would get dress coded. This also goes for sports such as volleyball, golf, and track.
In conclusion teachers/authority need to learn how to not sexualize children, if it's within reason we should be able to wear what we want, and you should hold men and women as equal.
