"People feel like the system is rigged against them, and here is the painful part, they're right. The system is rigged." - Elizabeth Warren.
You've been a champion on economic issues so far, you hold big players to account to make sure that everyone gets a fair go. At the moment the United States is levying really tough sanctions on Iran. Sanctions aren't neutral - they're economic cluster bombs that are taking food of Iranians dinning room tables and medicine off their shelves.
The biggest tragedy here is that these sanctions are making it harder for change makers in Iran to be effective. You know the power of digital technology when it comes to organizing, one of the reasons you were elected was because of the incredible way your team utilized cutting edge technology. All we ask is that you provide that same opportunity to Iranians, many of whom fight for freedom and liberty on a daily basis.
The sanctions aren't meant to be impacting things like technology, but given that the sanctions have caused the price of food to skyrocket and creating a greater unemployment problem - it makes it harder for Iranians to be able to afford things like camera phones.
Recently the Iranian people came together and despite all odds fought to elect a moderate President. President Hassan Rouhani has just been sworn into office. Voting to increase sanctions now would only increase hostility with Iran, increase the suffering of everyday people and put us on a path to war.
Please don't let us down.
It's cruel and unjust to punish the Iranian people for the actions of a government that they have little say in.
