Our topic is Pink Tax. Pink tax is products marketed towards women that are more expensive than those marketed towards men, despite either gender’s choice. This is  occurring in all 50 states. Although it is banned in 10 states, such as Maryland, Illinois, Florida, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, Connecticut, New Jersey and Nevada, we have seen big companies like Target, Levis, Walgreens, Babies R Us, Carter’s, CVS, and more, continuing to use the unfair tax used towards women.

One problem we have with ‘Pink Tax’ is that the same products marketed for women are being sold for more expensive than the products marketed for men. Basic necessities like razors, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, and clothing are all examples of everyday products, used by boys and girls that possess the Pink Tax. Something we can do to try to stop the Pink Tax is to look around stores, and inspect the prices of both the mens and womens products to try and get the cheaper buy.

Another problem we have with ‘Pink Tax’ is that it is also on kids clothes and products. Oftentimes you can catch girls toys being way more expensive than the boys toys even though it's the same exact product but different color. Not only does pink tax apply to kids it also applies to babies, girl clothes and products. This is an issue because many times “cute” baby clothes are marketed towards a specific gender (blue for boys, pink for girls) causing mothers to have to spend more money on basic essentials for their baby girl. Moms also, sometimes don’t want to purchase gender neutral clothes because it can often run expensive and pricey. One way we can fix this problem is to sell girls clothes and products at the same price as the boys. We can also lower the prices of neutral, colored clothes.

Pink Tax is an unfair tax used towards women which we think is wrong. By signing this petition YOU are giving us a chance in taking a small step forward to inform women and to possibly end this unreasonable problem of pink tax.
