In the interest of peace and equality, we say "Dona, Nobis, Pacem," Give us peace and tranquility. The grassy field known as the "ballfield" at St. Edward Park in Kenmore, WA is perfectly suitable for many uses by a diverse community. Uses include: Frisbee, dog walking, parking for occasional community events, such as summer concerts, deer grazing, bird watching, cricket, star gazing, orienteering, baseball, to name a few. We believe the City of Kenmore's proposed artificial turf, artificially lighted ballfield belongs elsewhere. The project does not represent an "improvement," in our opinion. We believe organized sports have a value for children; however, artificial fields belong in an alternative location. We do not want an artificial turf to replace this sweet grassy field that also serves as lovely habitat for animals who need natural wetland, forest, grass, stream and darkness. We sign to voice our wish to keep the existing parcel of land adjacent to the main road as a passive use open space ballfield with real grass, not artificial turf with artificial lights.
