Please Help Save Hyannis and Hyannis Harbor

This petition had 52 supporters

The Hyannis Planning Commission is considering approving the building of condominiums in Hyannis Harbor that will undermine the future of Hyannis and Hyannis Harbor businesses and residents. (It's hard to tell from this "perspective" because the builder intentionally disguised the issue)

The towering buildings will help reinforce the image of Hyannis as the outlier town of Cape Cod and further discourage tourism, undermining businesses and residential home prices.  The Hyannis Harbor will look like none other found on the Cape or the Islands.  It will be totally unappealing to visitors and residents!

These building were viewed bv the Hyannis Mainstreet Waterfront Historic District Commission as incompatible with their objectives and viewed as "ugly" by many of the committee members.  The committee was going to disapprove the proposal when the builder withdrew his request.

Oddly enough, simply going to another commission when one commission rejects your proposal is acceptable.  So much for the opinion of the Hyannis Mainstreet Waterfront Historic District Commission.

The "ugly" buildings are greater than twice as tall as desired by the Historic Commission (four stories plus the roof) and almost four times as dense as considered appropriate.

The Planning Commission needs to review this proposal in detail with the PEOPLE who live and vacation on Cape Cod.  They need to conduct extensive market research studies to see what the PEOPLE think rather than rely on an eleven year old Growth Incentive Zone concept they approved to justify the construction of this horrific condominium complex all in the interest of short term revenue.

Approving this proposal would be a disaster for the future of Cape Cod, Hyannis and Hyannis Harbor.

Would you want our tourists and neighbors to see those buildings towering over Hyannis Harbor further exacerbating the exact image problems we need to overcome?  If not, please sign this petition and send it to others who you believe would agree.
