Jeremy Dukette started this petition to Representative Elise Stefanik and

This week the over the air live TV streaming service "Locast" took a devastating blow by a lawsuit filed by the 4 major broadcasting channels ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, causing the non-profit service to shut down.

The purpose of this petition isn't necessarily to promote the service "Locast" but to promote the service that it offers to areas that cannot receive these live Over the Air (OTA) signals with an antenna, but still have areas with internet, or in the age of growing high speed satellite internet, use that option.

The people in this country from ALL geographic areas, including areas unable to receive OTA signal still pay taxes and fees in some form to the FCC. Whilst people in urban areas receive services with their taxes to the FCC, taxpayers in rural areas outside of OTA network receive zero. A form of taxation without representation. At least that is how it appears. The geographic location of anyone should not be a deciding factor for what services they receive. Therefore I am asking that the government, or in particular the FCC take action to fix this. Whether that be to work with the people at LOCAST and help provide this service, or to start a government funded option in its place, much like nationally funded public radio, or PBS style OTA TV. Even if that means building more OTA towers nationally to spread the content already being provided.

There are going to be people that argue in favor of the lawsuit, that LOCAST is "stealing" TV signal. We are not asking that to be the case, we are asking for those OTA channels to be broadcast to rural areas in some form, when none is currently provided. In the times of so much uncertainty, it would be very useful for millions of rural Americans be able to stay informed about the news, and what is really happening outside of their isolated communities.

Let's not argue, let's get results. Make this happen. The house of representatives should be able to work with the FCC to make a plan to have this pass and be signed by the president. There are committees designed for this type of thing, let's utilize them.
