In 1619, the first black slaves arrived in america to mark the beginning of a long suppression that would last more than than just a century....The  Confiscation Acts and the Emancipation Proclamation made 1863 a year to celebrate,it was over..well at least they thought it was. Segregation was still thriving and no matter how much it seemed like a new era of hope was finally appearing, Black people were still being seen as less than human. Slavery damaged us. But people like Martin Luther King came to put back the pieces shattered by white supremacists. He had a dream..and even though he was assassinated, his dream lives on as hope for the rest of us in his books, his life and everything he did for the good of Black people. Today most African countries are also bound to the same poverty and anguish because of what happened to us. It was a game of finders keepers, losers weepers. We say this all the time but its an exact description of the situation we're in. 'We're all the same'..but it's just not true and its up to us to make it true. Too many innocent lives have been lost and we cant stay silent anymore.. #NotAllLivesMatterUntilBlacklivesMatter
