I was a victim of being physically abused by my neighbors however the judicial system did not protect me. The neighbor was able to file a poultice report that was false. Even though there was video evidence proving this the court still treated me as a suspect and not a victim.

i have also been a victim of a man filing a false police report saying he was my boyfriend and I tried to stab him. It took a while to prove that he was never my boyfriend. He was even able to lie and say I threatened him while we were at court and the detained me on a new charge without checking the video surveillance from the court in which he said I threatened him on the court steps. 

Me and countless others have been victims because of the system allowing individuals to file false police and DCF reports without any investigation. This petition would mandate a burden of proof on the plaintiff to prove said events occurred. I am also purposing that certain liability be held on the officer(s) filing their report on the behalf of the plaintiff. 

I would suggest wrap around services for the victim. This would entail that It would allow the victim to not have to testify in court next to the defendant because of the trauma inflicted by being so close to your abuser. Finding another legal way be it through a notarized letter, Skype call or conference call. It would provide free legal and mental health services for the victim and would make it so all victims of any type of abuse be eligible for victim witness services. 

In the same way as officers would have to investigate before a magistrate hearing, they shall be required to do no more than that as a minimum requirement to prevent the filing of false reports. In addition, prosecution to the fullest extent of the law for the individual who has filed such said complaints. 

It is time to make the judicial system do some work in validation of claims on individuals. It will slow down or stop people from being prosecuted for crimes they didn’t commit, free up the systems to deal with genuine offenders and prosecute those who tamper with the system and use it as a way to be malicious to someone else. The system is supposed to protect and source, not to destroy people’s lives because someone doesn’t like them or can’t be with them.
