On July 24th, Eliad Cohen -producer, actor, model, entrepreneur and co-founder of Gay-ville- published on his Instagram account a video that showed him slapping a woman. The video included a comment of his: "All in humor... Take it easy".
Violence against women is never fun. And that's what other Instagramers told him immediately. It took a while but finally Eliad Cohen pulled the video from his account. But that is not enough, he needs to publicly apologize and start a campaign to condemn violence against women.
Every year, millions of women are victims of abuse and violence. Hundreds of thousands die because of gender violence against them. This is a huge problem in all societies and we cannot afford to "take it easy".
Having a prominent individual slapping a woman on a video and assuming that that is fun is part of the problem as it shows how trivial violence against women is to many. That's why we need to tell Eliad Cohen that that is not right, that he needs to publicly apologize and start a campaign to condemn violence against women.
