Most People who have diabetes type 1 and type 2 need insulin to help regulate their blood. Many people can’t afford it because it is too expensive.

Single vials of insulin on average cost about 300 dollars and most people who have diabetes type 1 need 2 to 4 vials a month and if they are more resilient to insulin they may even need 5 or more vials a month. This is a cost of 600 to 1,500 dollars a month for each diabetic person. Insulin prices need to be lowered exponentially so that people who need it can affordably access it.

If someone were using 3 doses a day it would cost that person around $10,800 a year without insurance and insurance doesn’t always cover everything. “It can also sometimes be difficult for people on Medicare to afford insulin.” Stated in the article “Insulin prices” by Singlecare. In other words even if you pay for Medicare, and or other types of healthcare, you can very well still struggle with affording the insulin.

Help people who have diabetes get the insulin they need to survive. Every year people die from diabetes, while these big company’s (Eli Lilly, Novo Nor-disk, and Sanofi) sit back and count their dollars from the extreme prices they put on their insulin.
