Dementia becomes a severe debilitating condition and has been ignored now for 22 years since a Royal Commission report which was completed in 1999.  Since then there has been many false promises and to date no progress has been made. This has resulted in those suffering this terrible condition having to pay their own care home fees by selling their home and using all their savings when other conditions get their care paid for which can only be described as discrimination. 1 in 14 people over 65 in the UK have Dementia. That means 1 in 7 couples over 65 will have a partner with dementia and their assets are at risk. My wife was diagnosed with Young Onset Dementia before she was 65.  So Act now before it is to late for you. To get your vote a political party must promise to introduce the following within one year of them taking power and failing to do so they must call a general election immediately. The same amount of care home costs to be paid to all irrespective of wealth if they meet a realistic criterion which is not geared to refusing costs whenever possible. The amount would have to be realistic and not an amount that care homes cannot exist on which has already caused many to close.Care homes must meet a minimum requirement set by the Care Quality Commission. Those that wish for better facilities than those set by the Care Quality Commission could top this up at their expense. This must be the minimum acceptable solution.   SHOULD NO POLITICAL PARTY AGREE TO THIS DO NOT VOTE.
