Why is this being tolerated?  At what point will the elected officials of San Diego county step up and take accountability for the mishandling, profiling and downright inappropriate engagement. We will not tolerate this anymore.  And by "we", I am referring to those of us who are not OK with this method too often used by the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) and the Chief of Police as they use their authority and privilege to mistreat black and brown residents of San Diego county.  A young Black woman who arrested at the beach on 5-2-2020 and taken down by 3 police officers with her face pressed on the sand and then again on the concrete.  You can see the fear in her face as she realizes that she is being arrested.  For what I don't know- in looking at the video, you can't tell why she's being arrested.  The cops were following her as she was walking her dog on the beach.  Maybe there is a rule that dogs were not allowed?  Possibly.  But why not cite her or be kind and explain to her that she will have to leave with her dog.  Where was the humanity here.  These men and their high egos gave zero regard when it comes to violations towards Black women.

In other parts of town, Black men approached for wearing face masks with colors.  Why?  Isn't this the protocol to wear face masks to protect ourselves during this pandemic?  White individuals everywhere are wearing colorful face masks with designs, bright colors, dark colors, etc. Now when a Black man wears protective gear, it's seen as a threat?  Now it's #wearingprotectivegear while Black.  It is disgusting that Black folks are subjected to this mental and psychological abuse by the SDPD who pretends that they are here to protect the residents of San Diego.  This is clearly a lie, one that those in the Black community have known for far too long.  At what point will the Mayor, Chief of Police, and elected officials step up and stop this madness.  At what point are elected officials going to say that its not my jurisdiction.  That's not OK and if this is your response, then we hear you loud and clear. I ask them, would you be OK with your daughter or son, father or mother, aunt or uncle being subjected to this, constantly looking over their shoulder and not feeling protected.  How would you be OK with that?  I challenge all of you to take a stand and hold the SDPD accountable for bringing on police officers that do not support ALL people.

Stop the harassment, profiling, and physical violence against Black people in San Diego..
