The average person in Congress is paid 150-175K a year. This is about 5-6 times what I make in a year. If I did not DO my job I would not get my pay. Congress draws somewhere around 93 MILLION dollars a year in salaries and this does not include their staff and security and benefits (BTW I do not have insurance and NEED the ACA so that I can get care for chronic illness). They should have pay suspended and deducted until they CAN do their jobs. And the notion that some do not think that furloughed employees should get back pay once the shut down is over is LUDICROUS.

Our country was founded on the idea the being a representative was an HONOR, not a job. The moment it became possible to be a career politician, our country started heading to hell in a handbasket. If they are exempt from all the things that affect those they represent, why should they be motivated to ACTUALLY represent?

Our elected politicians are all about party. They no longer consider country and therefore no longer care about us. There should be consequences for that. We need people who are serious about pushing our country forward; this group has proved again that they aren't interested in the job.

If my friends who are government employees have to go without pay, so should Congress. At least my friends actually earn their money. The present Congress is useless.

I recognize that Congress does not have the power to change the rules governing its own pay, but someone who has that power needs to step up and hold Congress accountable for their childish antics!

I'm signing because this entire situation is just pitiful and disgusting. IF FAMILIES CAN'T GET THEIR PAY TO COVER TAXES AND BILLS, THEN CONGRESS SHOULDN'T GET PAID AT ALL.

Considerable portion of family income comes from civil service job that has been furloughed due Congress's failure to uphold there constitutional duty and pass a budget.
