It is time for our Government to expel the Russian Ambassador to New Zealand. President/Dictator Putin has clearly demonstrated to the global community with his nuclear blackmail, that he cannot be trusted and that he has no real intention to negotiate with anybody. The ongoing war crimes like rape, torture and murder of innocent Ukrainian civilians committed by Russian soldiers is no longer acceptable or even tolerable. 

The war in the Ukraine has contributed to our rising inflation and daily food costs as well as our fuel/energy bills. We are calling on our New Zealand Government to draw a line and make a stand for humanity. It is time to cut all diplomatic ties with Russia.

Our Government continues to defend the ongoing presence of the Russian ambassador in Wellington, but said that Georgy Zuev expulsion would remain on the table however arguing that “when it comes to expelling ambassadors that also means you lose your diplomatic representation.” Our Government also argues that we would lose that communication channel and the ability to have that dialogue with Russia, yet we are clearly not communicating or having any dialogue with the Russians and Putin is clearly not listening to anybody either! Therefore diplomacy has failed.

We urge the New Zealand Government to use the diplomatic tool of expelling the Russian Ambassador from New Zealand to demonstrate to the world and to the Russians that we will not ignore the ongoing  Nuclear Threats from Putin and the senseless war and genocide in the Ukraine.
