Eid National Holiday

Eid National Holiday
Why this petition matters
Eid al Fitr and Eid al-adha are such important days for Muslims all around the world and in Canada, yet still there is no official national holiday for Eid.
I am a Muslim, and yesterday was Eid. I am a grade 7 student that loves to work and loves school. 27 days into Ramadan, I found out that Eid was on a Monday, obviously I was going to miss school because it is a large celebration that should be enjoyed by the Muslim community.
Both Eids express being Muslim in such a way yet we still have no day to celebrate. We have to miss school or work that does indeed affect our learning or work.
Yesterday was Eid, and yes I did miss school. Oh and did it affect me! I found out about a new assignment suddenly and I missed note taking for my important Unit Final! It affects our learning and puts muslims all around Canada at a disadvantage of both learning and work. It is not fair!
Eid is a decorated holiday. Fasting 30 days while people are eating around you is not easy and should be celebrated when it is done! Both Eid al Fitr and Eid al-adha are the two official holidays that Muslims celebrate. We should at least have a day off! Having a national holiday in Canada or anywhere around the world WILL affect the Muslim community in a positive way. We won't miss school or learning, and for the grown-ups they won't miss important meetings or important days for work. This is a problem that it is 2022 and we still don't have a national holiday for the muslims celebrating it across Canada. If there is a national holiday for Eid, and we win this battle, Muslims would be able to enjoy a hard earned holiday without any worries. Because frankly, I don't want to be staying up at 10:40 p.m. still studying simply because I was celebrating Eid!
There is also another positive for this situation, it is also important for non-muslims because it gives them a chance to explore the religion of Islam and what Eid is in this day off. It fosters understand in which were was once a ignorance and fear. The more we understand each other, the less we are likely to jump to racist, hateful, or wrong conclusions.
I believe that Eid is such a important holiday for muslims and should be celebrated with no worries of missing school or work. I hope that you are moved by this little paragraph and vote for a national Eid day for both Eids.
