Hello everyone,

The students of EHTHS feel the need to bring this petition in light of the recent news. It was suddenly released that lunch would no longer be available in the library at Egg Harbor Township High School after winter break. Without any explanation, we demand reason and change. For most, this was a safe place for many students and was perfectly moderated with significantly fewer issues compared to the actual cafeterias or other sectors of the High School. The pass system was fully functional and it was rather a very calming atmosphere. A much more tame place to get school work done or just to relax and eat in a different setting. The eating space was also maintained and kept tidy after each lunch by the students. Towards the end of lunch, students would clean their table with cleaning solutions and the area around them to ensure everything would be back in its place. In addition, this was a mental safe space, and the volume was kept to a manageable low. A comfortable and relaxable place all-in-all. For many of the students here, we want to be able to continue eating lunch in the library and would be fine with certain measures being enforced. With this petition, we want our voice to be heard about what it means to be able to eat lunch in the library.
