The students of Edwardsville High School have a work load that is far too great especially in this time of stress, worry, and change. The added stress of deadlines, grades, and attending a zoom has become too much and has had a negative effect on the mental health of the students. What has been required of us is quite overwhelming. While adaptation is a necessity of this interesting and unique period of time, the students of Edwardsville High School have had to adapt to something that they are not quite ready for. The increase in zoom meetings has turned the student’s “safe-space” or “down-space”, in which they use to de-stress, calm down, sleep, and rest, has become their work space. Instead of being able to relax from a stressful or work-filled day, they have to think about joining a zoom call. All of these aspects have been turning students into individuals with stress that is beyond what should be expected of them. 

By signing this petition, you agree that zoom meetings every day is too much and should be altered or returned to a hybrid schedule, the work load should be lowered and the deadlines extended, there should be more leniency when it comes to late grades, and that teachers should change how much effect individual assignments have on our overall grade or increase the opportunity for extra credit. 

All students, nation wide, are struggling with this issue and there needs to be a change. Sign this petition in order to call for a change that will benefit the well being and futures of the students of Edwardsville High School.
